Götz Methfessel received early instruction in piano and composition from Max Reger student Heinrich Funk, as well as viola and clarinet lessons. Since 1985 Methfessel has been teaching at the Dresden University of Music «Carl-Maria von Weber», since 1998 as professor of musician medicine.
