The 3 Small Hymns for Viola Solo are all based on one of my many psalm tunes. They are all in the same A-B-A form, where the A-sections are the hymn and the middle B-section is in a more vivid mood. The pieces have a double goal: to be pedagogical exercises and to be chamber music, that is suitable, also for church performances. This has been the goal of most of my chamber music. Ivan Hoiberg
